Bureaucrat, poet, with proclivities for painting and singing, Srujani Mohanty, was raised at Rourkela, Odisha, by erudite parents, who are retired Professors. Her creative pursuits began in high school, continued in Sambalpur University from where she graduated as the Best Arts Graduate. She completed M.A and Mphil in Psychology from Delhi University, before entering Civil Services.
Her poems, short stories and travelogues, have been published in various magazines.
She resides in New Delhi with her husband, Sanjog Kapoor, a fellow bureaucrat and two children, Manasvi and Divyam.
