Dr. Subimal Sinha–Roy is an Earth Scientist. He received Masters and PhD degrees from the Calcutta University, Kolkata, and carried out post-doctoral research and teaching in the University of Bergen, Bergen, Norway. He was the Head, Geosciences Division, Centre for Earth Science Studies, Trivandrum, and occupied various technical and administrative positions, including Director and Dy. Director-General, Geological Survey of India. He is currently an Emeritus Scientist at the Birla Institute of Scientific Research, Jaipur.
He was associated with many national and international Earth Science research projects as the Principal Scientist. He has published more than 150 research papers in national and international journals. He has authored one book and edited three books on topics related to Earth Sciences. He is member of many scientific bodies. He received the Asiatic Society Medal, Geological Society of India Award, and National Mineral Award for his research contribution.
He publishes online his poems regularly, and is a top ranking winner poet in poetry contests of the poetry website www.poetrysoup.com. Wings of Winter (2018) is his fourth book of poems, others being Dance of a Dry Leaf (2015), The Shape of Shadows (2016), The Boatman and the Touch of Twilight (2017).
