Splish, splash, rain drops,
on my terracotta rooftop,
O Cloud’s babies, bouncy crystal beads,
I rushed to gather you in my palms!
Cool, clear and dispassionate,
I smeared you on my cheeks,
And yet how unsatiated I felt!
Longingly Earth waited for you!
I danced, surrendering myself,
to your copious arms!
I hopped in your streaming legs of rapidity,
as kids floated coloured paper boats.
Washed off are all the dirt, heat and grime,
Shy leaves now shine like a facial done,
Dripping drops that cling to the coy leaf edges,
O Indra’s son, the Earth’s daughter welcomes you!
